CPAC’s Trebla Subsidiary Introduces
Unique One-Part Developer

Leicester, New York, May 6, 1998 - CPAC, Inc.’s photographic subsidiary, Trebla Chemical Company, has introduced TriPhase™, the first super-concentrated liquid color developer for the photographic industry to be manufactured in a one-part, stratified form. The product has been previewed at trade shows both nationally and internationally, beginning in October, 1997 with "COMFOT ‘97" in Mexico City and "PMA Europe ‘97" in London, and again in February, 1998 at "PMA ‘98" in New Orleans. A patent is pending.

This innovative formulation was developed in response to customer demand for reduced shipping cost, elimination of HAZMAT shipping charges, and ease of use, and is anticipated to become the standard for Trebla’s minilab customers.

Traditional RA-4 chemistry is packaged in three bottles, with a total volume of 1.3 litres. The super-concentrated TriPhase formula reduces that volume to only 1 litre, and allows the chemistry to be packaged in a single bottle, reducing end-users’ solid waste loading to landfills. And, TriPhase meets DOT shipping regulations as non-hazardous, so shipping and handling costs are also reduced.

Trebla has a rich history of innovation. The company was the first to introduce easy-to-use kits for recycling photographic chemistry in 1981, followed by the first odorless and fresh-scent chemical lines in 1994, the first soft "pouch" packaging for imaging chemicals in 1996, and the first LiquidPowder™ Slush™ chemistry for graphic arts in 1997.

"TriPhase is the perfect entree into new markets," comments Pedro P. Bonilla, President of CPAC’s Imaging Group. "We have introduced a truly innovative product, and the industry is responding with requests for private-label manufacturing and licensing agreements. We have the opportunity to expand into previously untapped markets with TriPhase products."

CPAC Imaging Group currently operates imaging chemical manufacturing facilities in the United States, Belgium, Italy, and South Africa, and will establish a plant in the Pacific Rim during fiscal year 1999. TriPhase products will be produced within six to nine months at four of these locations. The Imaging Group comprises Trebla Chemical Company, St. Louis, MO; CPAC Equipment Division, Leicester, NY; PRS, Inc., St. Louis, MO; Allied Diagnostic Imaging Resources, Inc., Norcross, GA; CPAC Europe, Herentals, Belgium and CPAC Italia, Milan, Italy.

CPAC, Inc. is an acquirer, developer and licensee of brand names, and produces and markets specialty chemicals and environmental compliance equipment for the worldwide imaging industry.
